Our approach

We want people with disabilities, older visitors, and people using different devices to be able to find and use the information on this website. Its design includes readable text, clear navigation, visible keyboard focus, descriptive headings, and controls for text size and motion.

Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility. Features on the public pages do not guarantee that every historical document, video, or external service is accessible to every user. We welcome reports of barriers and requests for assistance.

Text size and motion

• Use Bigger text in the upper utility bar or mobile menu to increase the website’s text size. Your choice is remembered in that browser.
• Your browser’s zoom controls can enlarge the entire page. On most desktop browsers, use Ctrl and +, or Command and + on a Mac.
• Use Pause motion to stop the homepage’s background motion. The site also responds to your device’s reduced-motion preference.
• Gallery videos have individual play, pause, volume, and full-screen controls and do not start automatically.

Keyboard and navigation

Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move between links and controls. Press Enter to activate a link or button; Space also activates many buttons and video controls. The Skip to main content link appears when focused and bypasses the navigation.

On smaller screens, Menu opens the full navigation. Press Escape to close it and return focus to the Menu button. Meeting details and frequently asked questions expand using their labeled controls. Photo albums show additional images through a Show more photos button.

Documents, media, and external services

Some meeting documents are supplied as PDFs and may contain scans, images of text, or formatting that is difficult for assistive technology to read. If you need help accessing a document, tell us its title or link and the format or assistance that would work for you.

The photo collection contains historical images. The video collection contains marina footage and may not include captions or audio descriptions. Contact us if you need help understanding information conveyed by a particular image or video.

The owner portal, maps, online meetings, and other linked services are provided on separate platforms. Their accessibility features and controls can differ from this website. We can help identify the information or contact route you need if a linked service presents a barrier.

• The page address, document title, or feature you were using.
• What you were trying to do and the difficulty you encountered.
• Your preferred way to receive a reply or the information.
• If useful, your device, browser, or assistive technology. This is optional.

You do not need to disclose a diagnosis, password, or unnecessary personal information. If the request concerns an upcoming meeting, mention its date so the timing of your request is clear.

Compatibility and review

The site uses standard HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and is designed for current desktop and mobile browsers. Some interactive features require JavaScript. Keeping your browser and assistive technology current may help, but please still report a problem if you encounter one.
